Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
